Step 2: Notification
Once the situation is safe, report the incident to the person in charge of the work area and make sure you submit an incident form while the incident is still fresh in your mind.
Click on each pencil for five things to remember.
Report the incident before the end of your working day.
If a staff member, contractor, visitor, or any other non health care recipient was harmed as a result of the incident an OHS incident report should be completed.
Once a report is in VHIMS, those who need to know - including management - will be notified according to the organisations alert/notification system.
When an incident occurs to a patient, an important component of the notification process is to acknowledge the occurrence of the incident to the patient and their support person.
